Chile is an interesting country, 4.300km long by an average width of 180 km. This long corridor is bordered on one side by the very cold waters from the Humboldt Current coming up from Antarctica, and on the other side by the Cordillera of the Andes and its eternal snow. The viticultural area that is located between 30º and 35º latitude at the height of Santiago enjoys a generous sunshine.
Such particularities give this country the perfect conditions for grape growing, lots of light thanks to the latitude,
but never excessive heat as the Andean snowy mountaintops combined with the cold Pacific waters temper the climate; a
permanently present thermal wind in the afternoon prevents the development of mildew and other vine parasites; dream conditions.
Temperature variation between day and night reaches 20ºC (30ºC during daytime and 10ºC at night) and are particularly favourable
to the production of flavours. Chile is probably the country that produces wine with the most powerful flavour.

Viña Punto Alto is located in Casablanca Valley, between Santiago and Valparaiso, 20 km away from the Pacific.
This geographical location generates a cool climate, particularly suitable for the culture of Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir,
which we harvest on our vineyards. The grapes for Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Carménère,
which require a warmer climate, are produced inland in the Maïpo or Colchagua valleys.
The snowmelt from the Andes gives abundant watercourses that allow irrigation if the climate is too dry.
In Chile, as anywhere else, the quality of viticulture is paramount. No great wines without good grapes! Controlled
productivity, harvest at full maturity while preserving the freshness of the fruit, meticulous wine making processes,
the use of barrels reserved almost exclusively to the best red wines that possess a solid structure. Maturing adapted to
each grape variety in accordance with the style is required. In each case, we endeavour to express each grape variety’s own
characteristics. Chile makes aromatic, harmonious and distinguished wines.
